In Rock Hill, S.C., the new Main Street Children’s Museum opened in December as part of a broader downtown revitalization project. Aimed at children 6 and younger, the museum gives visitors a chance to play on a ship, in a store and in other settings that, in the words of Owen Glendening, a museum official, allow them “to explore the world on their own terms, through creative play.
