Farm-fresh eggs, grass-fed beef, apple butter, flowers and jewelry have become common sights in downtown Rock Hill.
The Old Town market opened for its 2011 season on May 5, and since then market manager Chrys Tuttle said it's been going very well.
"Every week, we seem to be growing," she said. "We're always hearing from a new vendor or people who are interested on a regular basis."

More than two decades of perseverance and raising money by alumni of Friendship Junior College and area black Baptist churches are about to pay off - Plans are now final to build on the campus that is one of Rock Hill's most important historic sites.
Since the school closed in 1981 after 90 years of service and the buildings were demolished and lost to fire, just the grassy campus on Allen Street just west of downtown Rock Hill was left.
Only a few foundation bricks were left to mark its important legacy to the city, state and nation.

Old Towns Educational Community Garden is located off of Oakland Ave. It is a pilot project that organizers hope will eventually be replicated throughout Old Town neighborhoods. Planted in February, this community garden is beginning to be filled with a variety of herbs and vegetables. In addition to producing nutritious crops to encourage healthy eating, it is teaching a new generation how to garden.

Winthrop University Sculpture students unveiled handmade bike racks throughout Old Town last month. These functional art structures stem from the demand for bicycling facilities throughout Old Town, as identified in the College Town Action Plan and Bike Rock Hill Initiative, as well as by citizen requests.
For the past year, Shaun Cassidy, Associate Professor of Fine Arts, engaged his students in design planning and fabrication of these bike racks. The students needed to ensure that each one was visually creative, functional, and safe. The students presented their work to officials and were given the opportunity to have it both displayed and utilized in public settings.

Despite scattered thunderstorms around the Rock Hill area, crowds came out for the season opening concert Saturday at the Old Town Amphitheater Rock Hill. Fans jammed to the music of Southern Rock's Finest and its Rock Hill-based opening act, The Heavy Sandwich.
