Sisters with Purpose and Brothers with Purpose are mentoring programs that are supported by two nonprofit organizations: CRAVE Inc. and BROTHERS.
The mission of Sisters and Brothers with Purpose is to empower middle school and high school students to realize their potential in achieving success through creating goals. The idea is to encourage our youth to not only be responsible for themselves but accountable for each other through a bond of sisterhood and brotherhood.

Several years ago, community assessments revealed the need for increased literacy and health care for children in York County.
The Early Learning Partnership (ELP) of York County helps to meet those needs. Begun by the Junior Welfare League, ELP first operated as part of United Ways Success by Six initiative. In 2005, it became its own nonprofit.
ELP is a comprehensive, results-oriented initiative to help prepare children to reach school healthy and ready to succeed. Public and private support are combined through partnerships to address the unmet needs of young children and their families.

Hundreds of community members lined Main Street in downtown Rock Hill this afternoon to pay tribute to a protest that shaped the course of history in Rock Hill for the past 50 years. Students posed as the Friendship Nine and the city girls, marching peacefully and in prayer down the street as about 15 Friendship College students did 50 years ago.
