By entering Old Town events, you understand and agree that your photograph or image may be taken in any public place. You further grant permission and consent to the City of Rock Hill and nonprofit entities working with the City to promote the City's downtown area to use any such photograph, motion picture, or image for any reasonable purpose. 

Join the Arts Council’s Summer S.T.E.A.M Team Weeklong, Half-Day Summer Art Camps

ROCK HILL, SC- Your children will learn through the power of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) at the Arts Council of York County’s Summer Art Camps. The Arts Council of York County offers week-long, half-day summer art camps for children, ages 6+, with a focus on the visual, literary and performing arts. The camps run from June 12 – July 14, 2017 at the Center for the Arts, 121 East Main St. and at the Gettys Art Center, 201 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC. 

 

 

The masters have nothing on our summer art campers! In the Arts Council’s Summer Art Camps, children can explore the visual and literary arts in creative, fun ways. Campers will create FUNctional Pottery and Mosaics in classes with Katherine Petke. They’ll repurpose and reuse clutter, turning it into works of art with Ashley Beard in Trash to Treasure. Is your child into wearable art? They’ll create psychedelic swirls and patterns in Tie-dye Everything with Katherine Petke. This summer’s BMX Championships and the exhibits on display in the galleries at the Center for the Arts provide inspiration to campers in Kim

 

Cash’s Arts In Motion. History fanatics will love Time Travelers with Zach Greenway as they explore art through the ages, while budding architects will be inspired to create their own skyscrapers, door knockers, and paper stained glass windows in Windows, Doors and Tall Buildings with Kim Cash. Storytellers will thrive in classes like Papermaking & Journals with M.C. Churchill-Nash and Mask Making with Zach Greenway. In Capturing Light & Motion with Kim Cash, campers explore photography by studying the Camera Obscura, pinhole photography, zoetropes, kaleidoscopes, and stereographs. Students will delve into the processes behind creating Warhol-esque masterpieces, t-shirts, posters, journals and more in Screen Printing and Printmaking with Zach Greenway. Campers explore the intersection of arts and crafts in The Chocolate “Artvark” Series with Angie Clinton!

Each week, camps will be held Monday through Friday from 9 AM-12 PM and 1-4 PM.  Camps fees are $85 for Arts Council members and $95 for the general public.
