ROCK HILL, SC – The Arts Council of York County offers small grants to individual artists, non-profit organizations and schools throughout York County to help support projects of high artistic quality. Small grants are designed to support small or pilot arts activities to new and developing programs or organizations. Special arts projects that develop during the year are also eligible for small grants. The deadline to apply for programs occurring October - December 2017 is 5:00 PM on Friday, September 1, 2017.
Previous grant recipients include: Ashley Beard (art teacher), Camp Kic-A-Wah (culture and arts camp), Friday Arts Project (gallery exhibition), Velma Love (storyteller), Nathan Matthews (percussionist), Terry Roueche (film workshop), and J. Michael Simpson (photography and videography equipment).
Organizations and individual artists may request up to $1,000 per grant and may receive up to two grants in a calendar year. Prospective applicants MUST discuss the proposed project with the Executive Director at least 10 days in advance of the application deadline date. This small grants program is funded in part by the South Carolina Arts Commission (which receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts), the John and Susan Bennett Memorial Arts Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation, and Comporium Communications.
