Now, more than ever before, Dante Lewis' music embodies his motto “groove comes first.” His new album, No Cover Charge, kicks off with the soulful urgency, old school finger snap cool and low toned sensuality of “Breezy Clairaudience,” which he penned with Rod King. From there, the album is packed with graceful and passionate songs, with a few bluesy funk and soul tunes added for good measure.
Dante Lewis has been wowing audiences throughout the Carolinas since the age of 12 with an unmistakably passionate sound, his engaging personality and a lifelong passion for music. In 2003, Dante started the band Vision, a party and jazz group. Focusing on his solo career, he has recorded 2 CDs - Set The Mood and Songs of a Servant. In addition, he has been featured in Lux Millionaire Magazine, Columbia Metropolitan Magazine and California’s Urban Scene Magazine as a featured hot new artist. Lewis is the former Minister of Music at St. Luke Baptist Church in Winnsboro and is currently a musician at Bethlehem Baptist Church.

The Arts Council welcomes Mac Arnold & Plate Full O' Blues to McHale's Irish Pub. Mac Arnold is a South Carolina bluesman who has always been in the right place at the right time - playing with Muddy Waters, Otis Redding, and BB King. He produced Soul Train with Don Cornelius, and he even played bass on Sanford and Son with Redd Foxx.
Returning favorites include J'Michael Peeples bringing his smooth tones to Amélie's, the Abe Reid Trio performing savory old school blues whipped into sweaty, gritty, steady-rockin', musical dynamite at Millstone Pizza + Taphouse, and Leslie & Friends will have the audience dancing in the aisles at The Flipside Restaurant. Plair, with Festival Producer Bobby Plair, returns to the Festival again in 2018, performing in the Courtroom at the Gettys Art Center with Robert Car opening!
New to the Blues & Jazz Festival’s Old Town Restaurant Crawl in 2018: Eric Brown brings a sultry mix of jazz favorites to Five & Dine; the Calvin Edwards Trio, led by Calvin Edwards of The Blind Boys of Alabama, performs rockin’ blues in Black & White Alley behind Jimmy John’s; and Groove Masters, the band voted Best Jazz Band in the Carolinas, gets funky at Thi’s Place on Main.
