ROCK HILL, SC – The Arts Council of York County is currently accepting nominations for the Ben Ardrey Volunteer Award. The winner will be selected by a panel of judges and honored at the Arts Council's Annual Celebration on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Center for the Arts, 121 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC.
This award honors Dr. William Benjamin Ardrey, a well-known Rock Hill pediatrician for more than 30 years. During his career, Dr. Ardrey was a senior partner with Rock Hill Pediatric Associates. He was also very involved with the arts throughout his lifetime, working with both the Fine Arts Association and the Arts Council of York County.
The Ben Ardrey Volunteer Award was established in 1992 to recognize those individuals who have committed themselves to arts and culture during the past year. Past recipients include Charlie & Brenda Hochreiter, Mike Baker, Kathleen Butcher, Greg Tennant, Teresa Rector, Marcia Kort Buike, Karen Collins, Mrs. Sandy Johnson, Dr. Sarah Lynn Hayes, Barre Mitchell and Joe Zdenek. To be considered eligible for the Ben Ardrey Volunteer Award, nominees must meet the following criteria:
One name per arts/cultural organization will be considered;
The person being nominated must be a current volunteer with an arts/cultural organization;
The person being nominated must have been involved with the organization for the calendar year 2017 or 2018;
The individual should be involved in other organizations throughout the community;
The nominee must be a resident of York County, SC.
